Energized or Drained...You Get to Choose!
I continue to be fascinated by the energy of life, the fact that everything and everybody has energy. Imagine the table and chairs in your kitchen have energy. Your dog or cat has energy. You and I have energy, our words, thoughts and feelings have energy. And, imagine the people and things in our life have different energy frequencies. Imagine that light, for example has a higher, faster energy than darkness, a much slower, lower energy. Love, forgiveness and appreciation have much higher energy frequencies than violence, hatred and negativity.
Ever come home after an event and you feel drained or you come home from work and feel like the energy has been zapped out of you? Or, you come home from hanging out with friends and wonder why you are so tired? Then, there are other times you feel totally energized from going out or playing golf or watching a movie. Or you are energized after being with your loved one or playing with your pet. There is no coincidence here.
When you surround yourself with things that you love, when you spend time with people who energize you and your thoughts are filled with optimism, love and acceptance, you will attract higher frequencies of energy toward you.
When we are stressed, thinking too much, taking on too much, or surrounding ourselves with people who drain us and have those same stressful, negative thoughts, we continue to attract lower frequencies of energy toward us. This is called the “Law of Attraction”. That which we put out, we attract. We attract the type of energy we put out.
I bring this up because it is so important to begin to notice what and who you surround yourself by, the thoughts you have in your head and those you allow in and the words you speak. All of it has energy and that energy can either drain us or energize us. We each have the capacity to stay energized in our life if we so choose!
Next time you feel drained, notice the people and things around you, the thoughts in your head and the words you speak. Begin to find the patterns of negative energy and choose to shift your energy toward what energizes you. If you feel drained after watching the news every night, listen to classic radio instead for a short time. Do what makes YOU feel good, surround yourself by people who energize you and I guarantee, you will feel more energized and alive!
As Howard Thurman states, “What the world needs is people who have come alive”.
Cheers!

Monthly Workout: Are you Energized or Drained?
Explore the following questions below for this month's workout:
- Take a walk around your house and begin to notice what items energize you and what items drain you. What would you like to surround yourself with? What could you eliminate that no longer serves you?
- Check out your office space and ask the same questions. What items in your office energize you? Drain you? What can you continue to bring in your space that energizes and what can you minimize or eliminate that drains you?
- Who, in your life, consistently supports your fulfillment? Who in your life wants only the best for you and doesn't allow you to settle for anything but that? How will you seek their support?
- Who, in your life, is negative towards your fulfillment? Who sees the glass half empty? How can you better protect yourself from these negative influences?
- What types of activities do you do that energize you? How can you bring more of those into your life?
- What types of activities drain you? What can you replace those with that will restore your energy?
Notice your energy level this month and stay tuned to what is draining or energizing you. Choose to restore your energy rather than give it away!
I look forward to hearing what you experience! (please e-mail me at jdigi@thinkpeople.com)
Poem of the Month: Energy
Engaging in what you love to do,
Negating that which drains you.
Every choice you make will soon
Reveal the life that will sustain you.
Go forth, be still and trust your will,
You won't be led astray.
