Greetings! February 2005

It may seem early in the year to celebrate, but this month's workout is about stopping to celebrate our accomplishments. It's never too late to stop and acknowledge how far you've come since last year!

I am excited to announce a new event I will be running every other month starting in March called Effortless Networking! It's a combined networking event and workshop that I have been delivering to several professional organizations and am now offering to the general public. It also brings to fruition my long time desire to create the space for my current and past clients, friends and colleagues to come together to connect! Details below.

Back by popular demand are the Take Charge of Your Life and Take Charge of Your Business workshops. Details below.

If, at any time, you would like to unsubscribe, simply go to the end of the newsletter.

STOP and Celebrate!
It's amazing how much we accomplish and get done during the year, but how little time we take to acknowledge those accomplishments, to stop and celebrate where we've come and really say "WOW! I really did that!!" What we do instead is ask, "What's next?" and we move right onto the next thing!

As I work with more and more people on helping them get clear on what they desire this year, one thing has become prevalent. We, as human beings, do not take the time to celebrate our accomplishments! After I asked folks to take a snapshot of last year's accomplishments and then I asked them "Have you taken the time out to celebrate where you've come?" 99% responded with "No". That's very telling! And, I'm no different!

So, I got curious and looked up the word, "Celebrate" in good 'ol Webster's Dictionary and it states, "to observe with ceremonies of respect, to honor". In essence, when we stop to celebrate and acknowledge our successes, we are showing respect toward ourselves. And, 9 out of every 10 people do not do this!! The ironic part of this is that we would not allow another to disrespect us, yet when we rush onto the next thing and don't pause to reflect on what we have just accomplished, we are disrespecting ourselves.

Celebration is not just about respect and honor. Celebrating rejuvenates us and recharges our batteries for what's next. It's a time to reenergize. So, every time we move from one accomplishment to the next, and do not stop to celebrate or acknowledge, we are depleting our energy source. It may seem counterintuitive, but taking the time out actually gives us more energy.

After you accomplish the greatest endeavor to the smallest task, I ask you to physically stop and take the time out to acknowledge where you've come. Celebrate! In whatever way you want. It could be writing it in a success journal, pampering yourself with a massage or going out to dinner, to taking a hot bath by candlelight. Engage your friends and loved ones and have a party! It really doesn't matter how you celebrate, as long as it's fun for YOU, makes you happy and gives you energy!

We all deserve that kind of respect, so before you move onto the next thing, honor yourself and give yourself the gift of celebration.

Cheers

Monthly Workout: Stop and Celebrate!
Explore the following processes and questions below for this month's workout:
  1. When was the last time you stopped and celebrated your accomplishments?
  2. Think of the last major thing you accomplished. Did you stop to celebrate? If not, what would you like to do to celebrate your accomplishment?
  3. Set aside the time to celebrate that accomplishment. Engage others if appropriate and most of all, HAVE FUN!
  4. As you move onto the next thing after you celebrated, notice your energy level. What is different about it than if you moved directly onto the next thing?
  5. What's the one thing you will take from this exercise and remember to apply in the future?
I look forward to hearing what you experience! (please e-mail me at jdigi@thinkpeople.com)

Poem of the Month: Celebrate!

Can it really be? That
Everyone is moving so quickly,
Lost in our actions, removed from our source.
Engaged in what's next, but not stopping to respect.
Because there is so much to do and so little time,
Respect drops off, and it's such a crime.
After your success, stop and have fun.
Take it all in, acknowledge where you've come.
Embrace all that you are and all that you've done.
