As Good as it Gets
I have been taking on a ritual every morning before starting up my computer and getting on-line to begin work. First, I sit down and set an intention for the day. Then, I write out the tasks I would like to accomplish (my to-do list) and finally, I begin to shuffle a deck of cards called “Trust Your Vibes”. I randomly pull out a card and place it on my desk for the rest of the day. Sometimes, the card I pull reminds me to take time for myself, or seek out assistance or be creative or trust my intuition. The card that struck me recently was titled “Accept the Gifts of the Universe” and it was all about receiving. But, what caught my eye in the brief description of the card was the last sentence, “’How good can you stand it?’ because that’s as good as it gets.”
It really had me think, when was the last time I asked, “How good can I stand it?” We can get so caught up in our day-to-day and plan our weekends to get away that we don’t take the time out to observe, be aware and acknowledge our level of happiness. Are you fulfilled in your work? Are you content in your relationships? Do you feel energized and alive during the day? Or, are you settling, accepting status quo and letting life breeze by?
How good could it really get for you? There is so much goodness to receive and the answer lies at the core of what you truly believe is possible for you. Life can only get as good as you feel it could. We create our own ceilings in life. We create the walls that stop us from moving forward. And, those walls are created in our mind, through a mere thought. Those very thoughts will impact how much greatness we can stand to receive.
I ask you, this upcoming month, to explore your own thoughts about how good life could really get for you. Do you believe the perfect job is out there for you? Do you believe it’s possible to be happily married, raise healthy and happy kids and achieve the life balance you are looking for? Examine your beliefs about what truly is possible. Explore how much goodness you are willing to stand and challenge every belief that is creating a wall before you, any belief that is building a ceiling above you and blow them to pieces.
Each of us deserves to be fulfilled and it starts with taking a stand for a great life.
How good can you stand it?
Cheers,
Jean M. DiGiovanna
Monthly Workout: As Good as it Gets
Take on the following questions and process below for this month’s workout:
- Take a moment and sit quietly in a place you won’t be interrupted. Think about how good your life could get. What is the first thing that comes to mind? Is your next thought negative or positive?
- If it is positive, imagine your life from this place. Now, sit in that and ask yourself “How good can I stand it?” Notice how you respond to that. The idea here is to keep stepping beyond what you thought was possible. Keep imagining the unimaginable. It is in thinking about how great life could get that helps set it in motion.
- If your response to the question in step 1 was negative or disempowering, what gets in the way of you imagining your life as good? Take a moment and list the barriers that get in your way.
- Pick one barrier and first, don’t judge the feeling. Second, practice being with it and begin to look for the gift in it. Barriers can often point us to learning more about ourselves. What is here for you to learn? Based on the learning, pick one action that will help put this learning into practice. Take on the action and see what transpires out of it. Remember, action creates movement and movement creates growth.
I look forward to hearing what you experience! (please e-mail me at jdigi@thinkpeople.com)
Poem of the Month: Honoring Where You Are
In every moment, you have a choice,
to think positive or negative.
Our thoughts create our reality,
They direct the way in which we live.
Choose to think beyond what is possible,
for your life and those around you.
For when you imagine how great life could be,
Your dreams may actually come true!
