Greetings! June 2004

This month's newsletter is actually a piece I wrote over 4 years ago and I thought it was appropriate given the season. It might even inspire you to go out and fly a kite today!

I will be taking the summer off from running workshops, but if you or someone you know is interested in a workshop and can recruit at least 4 people, email me some dates and I'd be happy to set something up.

If, at any time, you would like to unsubscribe, simply go to the end of the newsletter.

Happy 4th of July!

Life...Like Flying a Kite!
There's something about flying a kite that is so freeing. It brings back childhood again. The joy and awe in watching the kite soar through the air. The feeling of not knowing where the wind is going to take it. When the kite loses momentum, we look for the best air for the kite to stay afloat, to stay gliding above the ground. We don’t fight the wind, we seek it out. We don’t let the kite fall to the ground, we guide it back into the wind. And, when the kite does fall to the ground, we just reel the string back into the roll and partner with another to guide the kite back up into the air.

When was the last time you thought of flying a kite? When was the last time you surrendered and let the wind take you? How often do we look for the wind, or the faith, to keep us afloat above the ground, soaring smoothly through life? And, how often do we partner with another to guide the kite back up into the air to fly smoothly again?

How often do we even take the kite out to fly??

Life has so many tosses and turns and each one offers gems of insight and experience, joy and pain. When we surrender to what life presents us, we allow our true self to shine through, the good, the bad and the ugly. And, all of it is magnificent, beautiful and wonderous! When we let the wind take us, we discover a life unexpected, unpredictable and exciting, a life unimaginable. When we look for the wind again as we notice ourselves going astray, we are honoring our values and commitment to what is important to us. And, when we seek out a partner to help us bring the kite back into the air, we are truly receiving, allowing another to lift us up. True connection, true life.

Find what keeps you soaring in the air! Discover that freedom from childhood. Explore what truly makes you happy and share your journey with another, for life is meant to be shared, surrendered and lost in spirit, cherished with love, soaked in sparkles, basked in the warmth of the sun and refreshed with the cool wind.

Cheers!

Monthly Workout: Life...Like Flying a Kite
This month is about playing with the following inquiries below. An inquiry is an open ended question that is meant to be pondered over time.
  1. What is it to surrender, fully let go of an expectation you have?
  2. What would be possible if you seeked out more partners in life to support you?
  3. What do you really want to experience this summer?
  4. What might you shift in your life if you were looking at it from a kite's view?
  5. What is it to live life fully with no strings attached? (no pun intended :-)
See what unfolds for you this summer as you dwell in the inquiries above. I look forward to hearing what you experience! (please e-mail me at jdigi@thinkpeople.com)

Poem of the Month: FLYING

Finding that part of you that loves to soar,
Letting the wind and sky lift you like never before.
Yearning to discover your true path to fulfillment,
Inside lies the answers that have not yet been sent.
Not a minute to spare, raise the kite, let it fly,
Gather your truth, it is there. Listen, and you will understand why.
