Greetings! May 2004

This month's workout is about pursuing what you believe in, no matter what others think. I invite you this summer to "Release Your Inner Edison" and pursue what brings you alive!

In light of this month's theme, I am excited to share a new workshop I will be delivering in June called "Create Your Own Soul Cards", a fun and soulful workshop that taps into your creativity and spirituality. And, back by popular demand "The Power of Setting Intentions: How to get what you REALLY want!" will also be available in June. Take the time out for you this summer and consider diving in! Details of both are below.

If, at any time, you would like to unsubscribe, simply go to the end of the newsletter.

Happy Memorial Day and may lots of light shine on you!

Release Your Inner Edison
As summer approaches, I always like to set an intention of how I'd like it to be. It's a season I cherish as it only lasts so long and I want to get the most out of it as possible! What I have been craving more of is creativity and fun, tapping more into the "right" side of my brain, the side with no boundaries, structure or rules! It's what I love to do, but I hadn't put much attention there for a long time. It had me recall ideas I had put on the back burner like delivering creative workshops on creating soul cards, poetry writing and mural painting and how much fun they would be. And, suddenly, as I recalled more ideas, the adrenaline shot right through me. My entire energy shifted and I felt alive! Then, I knew. This is the summer to "release" all those ideas like balloons into the sky!

As I started planning out my new workshops, guess what happened? Those wonderful voices in my head started taking over. "What are people gonna think?"...Will they take me seriously?....Will I still be credible in the Corporate world?". Does delivering creative workshops make me less of a powerful Coach, Facilitator or Trainer? NO!! But, i have to admit it took a while to come around to recognize that. It's about believing in what brings me alive no matter what other's think! Whether it be creativity, science, engineering, the point is to pursue what you believe in. If Thomas Edison had listened to all the people who mocked him and thought he was crazy, imagine what our world would be like without the light bulb? Pretty dark, huh??! No matter how many "failures" and how many mocked him, Edison persevered. He always saw each experiment as one step closer to success.

Each time we have an idea that lights us up and we stifle it, a piece of our energy moves with that idea and gets stuffed further down into our mind, heart or soul and weakens us. Over time, we wonder why we feel so drained, bored, under-expressed. In other words, it seeps the life right out of us! All you need to do to validate this is look at a child and how expressive and uninhibited they are. That is often what we loose along the way.

What in you wants to come out? It may have been neglected for so long and been pushed so far down, we may be barely able to recognize it? What have you resigned yourself to? It doesn't matter how you got here. What matters most is how to release it so that you come alive again! As Howard Thurman puts it "Do what brings you alive because what the world needs is people who have come alive!" Your heart, mind and soul will thank you for it and those around you will want a piece of it. Every time you honor what brings you life, what energizes YOU, you become an inspiration for others. You step beyond the status quo and others want a piece of that. You actually cause another to come alive! Like Thomas Edison, you bring light to the world.

I ask you, this summer to play the "Release Your Inner Edison" game! Take this summer to dwell in what really, truly brings you alive. Reflect on what in you wants to come out. And, honor that, "release" and pursue it, even if just one small baby step. You will not only feel energized - you will energize others!

Cheers!

Poem of the Month: YOUR INNER EDISON

There is something in us that is craving to come out.
The truth of who we really are.
Free yourself from the beliefs of others
and release that which once seemed so far.

You will come alive in ways you never imagined,
And find yourself the center of inspiration!
